The Natatorium/Unit II Gymnasium, commonly referred to as "The Nat", is actually two buildings joined together - the Natatorium (which means indoor pool) and the Unit II Gymnasium.
The Natatorium (Unit I) was completed in 1963. Unit II Gym, completed in 1967, houses the west campus Recreational and Intramural Sports Program Office in Room 1180. This facility is shared with Physical Education, Kinesiology, and Intercollegiate Athletics. Research laboratories, classrooms, and offices make this one of the most unique and functional facilities of its kind.
The Nat is located on the west side of campus on beautiful Lake Mendota. In addition to the indoor activity areas, the Nat offers acres of outdoor beauty and opportunities for recreation. Run or walk along the Lakeshore path to Picnic Point, challenge yourself to the Perrier Parcourse, or play on one of our well-groomed fields. There are 6 sand volleyball courts on the eastside of the facility. Accessibility information.
