The Shell is not exclusively for recreational use, so there are times when all or a portion of the facility may not be available (e.g. Monday - Friday, 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m., softball and track practice). See building schedule for more details.

University affiliation is not required to use the Track/Court area. Everyone except UW-Madison students (but not Guest Students) must purchase a membership to use the track/court area. A person must be at least 18 years of age at the time the membership is purchased.

Membership fees do not include parking, locker rental, towel service, or ice rink admission which is on a per use basis for all users including students.

Sports Center Membership Card or valid UW-Madison ID card is required for entry.

Membership privileges cannot be transferred. If you allow someone else to use your Membership Card or UW-Madison ID card to gain entry you will forfeit your facility use privileges, your membership fees, and your ID card.

Lost or stolen Membership Cards must be replaced by the member within one (1) week following the report of the lost or stolen card. THERE IS A $5.00 REPLACEMENT FEE (maximum 1 replacement card per member). Please report the loss of your membership card immediately.

Guest passes may be purchased by currently enrolled UW-Madison students that have a valid UW-Madison ID card and by current CRSC members. Guests must be 18 years of age or older, present photo identification, and be accompanied by their sponsor who is responsible for their behavior. Passes are not sold in advance. Guest fees are $5.00/day.

Non-member spectators (including children of members and students) are not permitted.

THE SPORTS CENTER IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR LOST OR STOLEN ITEMS, NOR WILL IT HONOR ANY CLAIMS FOR ITEMS THAT ARE LOST DURING THE CLEAN-OUT OF LOCKERS.

An individual may receive a 50% refund of the purchase price for the Recreation Membership Fee for a period of seven (7) calendar days form the beginning of the membership period or purchase date, whichever is later. No refund of the purchase price will be given for the summer membership fee. Refunds for General Public and Spouse/Domestic Partner memberships will not be processed until the membership card is turned in to the CRSC office.

THE LOCKER CLEAN-OUT POLICY allows patrons to renew their current locker for subsequent rental periods prior to the expiration date. This date is listed on your locker rental receipt and posted in the front lobby. YOU MUST PAY A $10.00 FEE TO CLAIM YOUR ITEMS IF YOU FAIL TO RENEW YOUR LOCKER BY THE DEADLINE AND SPORTS CENTER STAFF HAVE TO CLEAR OUT YOUR LOCKER.

If a locker contains only personal grooming items (e.g. soap, perfume, shampoo, combs) when it is cleared, these items will not be saved. ALL OTHER CLEARED ITEMS WILL BE RETAINED FOR 60 DAYS AND THEN DONATED TO GOODWILL OR OTHER SIMILAR AGENCIES.
